EPIC SWORD DRAW

Inspired by the works of Alex Ahad on Skullgirls and Studio Trigger’s Kill La Kill, I decided to take a crack at drawing a stylized character in an action stance under a limited color palette. The initial drafts were drawn in pencil and paper and were then scanned in. The final copy was entirely composed in Adobe Illustrator. My university were running a student art show around the time the piece was finished so I decided to submit it. My printed piece was selected among 200 others and was hung at the Maxwell Library.

Revision 2
AXIOM BUNNY BEAST MODE

After it was time for the next set of student pieces to be displayed in the Maxwell Library, I took the print home and hung it in my room. Three years of looking at it and finding errors and things I could improve upon it made me revisit EPIC SWORD DRAW. Initially it was to make minor modifications, correcting anatomy errors, smoothing out shape rough edges, employing a more engaging stance, adjusting coloring, and improving facial expression; but, one tweak lead to another and the piece turned into a ‘sequel’ of itself.

AXIOM BUNNY BEAST MODE was what I got after running through random word generator a few times, I tried to be equally as powerful & nonsensical as EPIC SWORD DRAW.
